This is why there are rare bird species that have long since lost their traditional breeding sites in other regions of the world. But also wolves, deer, wild boars, wild cats and even bears are not uncommon here. The lakes are an ideal place to linger a day or two on the trip to the southern regions of Croatia. Certainly, however, you can also spend a whole week here: with cave hikes at Rakovica, riding through the forests of Jelov Klanac or fly fishing on the Gacka river.
