Fažana is a picturesque, very popular holiday destination with around 2,800 inhabitants. Historically there are traces of many peoples and nations: Römer, Byzantine, Franconia, the Austria-Hungarian monarchy. The town center was created in the Middle Ages and is one of the outstanding sights. Numerous guests from near and far inspire open-air concerts in summer. Fažana used to be known for her factory for processing and conservation (sardines) of anchovies. The activity was developed in the 1920s. The factory was moved to Banjole in 1952. Nevertheless, the residents of Fažana have not forgotten the value of this fish, so that they are known for the preparation of the anchovies in a hundred species. They are particularly happy to prepare this fish at the traditional ""anchovy festival"", which takes place in August.
