The Erzgebirge, the natural border between Germany and the Czech Republic, is a natural paradise for fresh air fans. If you want to go high, you get to the summit or one of the lookout towers, e.g. in Haselstein at a height of 788 meters or the 16 meter high tower in Katharinenberg.
If you are not free of heights, you can get down in one of the disused mines, e.g. in the old Martinstollen above the mountain town of Krupka or the Mariahilf stollen on the slope of the copper hill with its impressive Malachit cave. The former intensive volcanic activity also ensured rich occurrence of iron ore and mineral sources, so that numerous bathing centers were created that contribute to relaxation.
